William “Bill” Bornhoeft
William Bornhoeft died June 19, 2017 in Hackettstown, NJ, his residence since 2013. Born July 5, 1932 and raised in Newark, NJ, Bill graduated Eastside High in 1951 and married Adele Serfass the next year. They started their family in the Ironbound neighborhood. The Bornhoeft’s moved to West Milford, NJ in 1966, living there until retiring to Sebastian, FL, in 1991, where Bill’s favorite activity was competing in local softball leagues. He took pride in his Newark roots and his career as a bus driver for NJ Transit. Bill returned to New Jersey when Adele passed away in 2013. He enjoyed recalling memories of his driving career for the residents and staff of the Good Shepherd community. He did not live in the past, however, keeping current with the growth of his grandchildren and the highs and lows of the Yankees season. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Adele in 2013 and his son, William in 1997. He is survived by his daughter, Jodi Kuzmiak and her husband Ken, five granddaughters, and three great grandchildren. Lillian Petersen of Liberty Township, Great Meadows, NJ passed peacefully at home with family by her side.
Lillian was born and raised in Jamaica Queens, New York and upon graduating high school worked in the fashion garment industry as a seamstress for many years. Lillian vacationed at her grandparents’ cottage at Lake Just It over the summers where she met her future husband, Russell Petersen, while they were youngsters. As their relationship grew, Lillian eventually moved to Liberty Township where she and Russell were married on the 26th of June 1954 at the United Methodist Church in Buttzville, NJ. Lillian and Russell had three Sons, Robert, Ronald and Raymond. They have ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter and another on the way. Lillian was predeceased by her parents Lydia and Otto Dietel and her brother Raymond Dietel of Jamaica Queens, NY. Lillian is survived by her husband William (Russell) Petersen, with whom she was married for sixty three years. Oldest son Robert and wife Jacqueline Peterson, granddaughter Lori Ann Petersen and husband Ryan Croaker, grandson Russell Otto Petersen, grandson Mark Kaminski, granddaughter Meghan Kaminski, grandson William Petersen. Son Ronald and wife Kellie Petersen, grandson Chris Breslin and wife Jennifer, great granddaughter Kayla Breslin, grandson Garrett Petersen and granddaughter Haileigh Petersen. Son Raymond and wife Darlene Petersen, granddaughter Chelsea Petersen (with great grandchild in waiting) and husband Ryan Smidt, grandson Gunnar Petersen. Services and burial were held privately by request of the family at Free Union Methodist Church and Cemetery on the 18th of June 2017. Charlotte M Heath, age 75, of Andover, NJ died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at home. Charlotte was born September 23, 1941 in Dover, NJ. She is the daughter of the late George A. and the late Ann (Gould) Scudder.

Joanne Lewis Patchin, formerly of Madison, New Jersey, went home to the Lord on May 21, 2017, at the age of 87. She is survived by her five children, Wendy Patchin, Kathe Patchin, Patty (Greg) Cassalia, David (Kara) Patchin and Thomas (Paige) Patchin and twelve grandchildren: Connor and Maureen Buttner, Samantha Patchin, Courtney (Joshua) McIvor, 2LT Jordan and Sydney Cassalia, Katherine (Benjamin) Davis, Alec and Micah Patchin, Shannon, McKenna and Taryn Patchin.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hackettstown, New Jersey on Saturday, November 25th at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Joanne was born on February 1, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas. She lived in Minnesota when she was young and graduated from Hamline College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Joanne worked as a nurse throughout her life, including many years at Morristown Memorial Hospital in the Emergency Room, ICU and Nursing Education departments. She was a devoted wife and mother and lived her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior. Known for her adventurous spirit and kindness to others, Joanne was an accomplished baker, seamstress and quilter. She sang in the church choir, read avidly, canoed, swam, wrote poetry, and hiked with the Frost Valley Hiking Club. Joanne loved traveling, music, dogs, gardening, playing card games, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her infectious smile, caring nature and servant heart made her many friends. Motivated by her faith and generous with her time, Joanne served others in many ways through the Aldrich Presbyterian church in Minneapolis, MN and Long Hill Chapel, Chatham, NJ. Joanne was preceded in death by David, her loving husband of 62 years, her brother Edwin Lewis, and her sister Jacqueline Smith.
