She was an officer in the Washington Township Historical Society, during which she offered her home as part of many historical tours of Historic Homes of Long Valley. She was a member of the Long Valley Women's Club and an elite member of the Kingergarten 5. Joan shared her passion for travel and education with her two life partners, three children, four grandchildren, many dear friends and hundreds of students.
