Donald L. Vanderbilt, 89 , died  03/31/04 in  Heath Village, Washington Township (Morris Co.), NJ.  Donald lived in  Heath Village since 1996, coming from Mt. Lakes, NJ. Previously Mr. Vanderbilt lived in Westfield, NJ and was raised in Ridgewood, NJ and was born in Springfield, Mass. on 05/12/14.

Occupation: Mr. Vanderbilt was a Professional Chemical Engineer with Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, NJ where he set up and administered test firing programs for arsenal developed mines and grenades to determine their safety and reliabililty. He observed the testing at army proving grounds and analyzed test results. He retired in 1984. Previously he was employed by Bakelite Corporation where he purchased equipment for solvent recovery and wrote the specs that were needed. He was also employed by Tidewater Oil Co. as a Project Engineer after graduating from the Pratt Institute of Engineering.

Veteran Info: During WW II he was a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps ground training program for the Army Aviators, and gave instruction in Meteorology and Intelligence. He visited air bases in the US in this mission.
