Beverly “Bev” Ort, 59 of Canastota passed away Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Born in Oxford, N.J., Bev has been a resident of the Chittenango-Canastota area the past 33 years.

She had been a nanny for the Ojugbeli family in Chittenango for 6 years and previously was employed for over 10 years at the former Kopp’s Canteen Restaurant in Chittenango. Bev was a member of the Believers Chapel in Canastota.

Surviving are her daughter, Jillian Near of Canastota, her son, Brandon (Deanna) Ort of Canastota, her former husband, John Barry Ort of Elmira, her step-sons, John Douglas (Michelle) Ort of Oxford, NJ and Robert (Carol) Ort of Mystic, CT., her sisters, Georgeanne Decker and Debra Schelling both of Washington, NJ, a grandson, Brady Ort, 3 step-grandchildren David, John Douglas Jr. and Holly Ort and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Decker and her brother Dennis Decker.

Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Calling hours will be 3-6 pm Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.  A graveside service and burial will be held at Port Murray Cemetery, Mansfield, NJ on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11 am.
