Philip R. Gerencser, age 66, of Long Valley, NJ died Friday, September 6, 2013 at home. Mr. Gerencser was born February 13, 1947 in Flushing, NY. He is the son of the late Julius and the late Ann (Potochick) Gerencser. He was married to Suzanne (Sheppard) Gerencser.
He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam war from 04-17-1967 to 01-12-1971. He was employed by AT&T, Somerset, NJ as the District IT Manager for many years. Phil was an avid Shooter and Woodworker. He enjoyed classic automobiles and driving his classic Corvette. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Mountain R.C. Church, Long Valley, the NRA (National Rifle Association) and the Shon Gum Sportsman Association, North Warren County, NJ
He is survived by his wife: Suzanne (Sheppard) Gerencser, his daughter; Amy Cavanaugh and husband Chuck; 1 sister; Theresa Koren and husband Phil; 2 grandchildren; Noah and Hailey.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am on Thursday, September 12 at Our Lady Of The Mountain Church, 2 E. Springtown Rd, Long Valley, NJ with Father Joe Goode officiating. Burial will be in Brigadier Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ on Friday, September 13 at 12:30 pm.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 11 from 5-7 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, 6725 Lyons Street PO Box 7, East Sayracuse, NY 13057.
