 Joyce Elaine Stevens, age 79, of Hackettstown formerly of Arizona died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at home.  Ms. Stevens was born December 15, 1937 in White Plains, NY. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Purdy) Applebey.  In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her brother, Glen Edward Applebey.

She served in the US Air Force during Peacetime from 1957 to 1958.  She was formerly employed by Arizona Dept. Of Public Safety, Phoenix, AZ as a Secretary before retiring.  Joyce was an avid reader, graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School class of 1955 where she played the trumpet in the high school band.  She was a champion for Disabled Veterans and donated frequently to the Women’s Memorial of Arlington National Cemetery. 

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Roller And Husband Mike 2 sisters, Patricia Worthington and husband Russ, Joan Gerrits, 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie and Michael, 6 great grandchildren.

Cremation was private.  Burial of Cremains will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
