Lewis D. Miller, Sr.

 Lewis D Miller, Sr., age 96, of Hackettstown died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at home.  Lewis was born January 31, 1920 in Jersey City, NJ. He is the son of the late Louis and Mae (Connors) Miller.    He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Betty (Laird) Miller on September 18, 2004.  In addition to his wife he is preceded in death by 1 brother; John and 2 sisters: Dorothy and Gertrude.

He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945.  Lewis was previously employed by Chase Bank, 40 West 34th, Manhattan, NY as the Vice President.  He was a member of the Blairstown VFW, the Blairstown Planning Board and was an EMT and former Treasurer of the Blairstown Ambulance Corp. 

He is survived by his 2 sons; Lewis D. Miller, Jr. and wife Ruth Ann, Stephen B. Miller and wife Joanna, 2 grandchildren; Stace and Jacen, 3 great grandchildren: Noel, Nathaniel & Malachi.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, August 18 at Tranquility Cemetery, 40 Tranquility Road, Tranquility, NJ with Father David Pekola officiating followed by the military honors and the burial.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J.
