Dorothy G.  Rupprecht
Died: Nov 13, 2019
Rupprecht
Dorothy Gassin Rupprecht entered into her eternal home Wednesday, November 13, 2019 after a century of life on earth. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, June 12, 1919, the only child of Grace and Henry Gassin, she grew up on a farm in North Brunswick and attended a two-room schoolhouse for the first years of her schooling. After graduating from New Brunswick High School in 1936, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from The New Jersey College for Women, which later became Douglass College.
Marrying her high school sweetheart Albert in 1940, they adapted well to the farm life, first on her family’s North Brunswick Georges Road acreage and later as they practiced “gentlemen farming” in Central Pennsylvania. She and Albert relocated to Mt. Olive Township in the 1990s, sharing life with their son’s family. The last seven years of her life she enjoyed the interaction at Paragon Village.
Her talents and creativity touched many. Countless babies stayed warm in her knitted creations while countless children and adults feasted on her soups and apple and pumpkin pies.  Writing was her passion. At the age of 8 she had a poem published in The New Brunswick Home News and was selected to compose the class poems in both 8th and 12th grade. Her contributions to the Creative Writing group at Paragon Village were warmly applauded.
Above all was her love for the Lord and his church. She was a member of Budd Lake Chapel as well as the Bible study groups at Paragon. Dorothy’s advice when interviewed by Mt. Olive/Hackettstown Life on the occasion of her 100th birthday celebration was simply, “Do something you like. Stay faithful, Make friends and keep friends. And be good to your family.” She lived those words.
She is survived by her son David (Ruth), grandchildren Jeffrey Otken, Kara Fink (Ian) and Kirk (Alicia) as well as great-grandchildren Jackie and Ella Otken, Dylan and Kayleigh Fink, Cadence, Cassidy and Elliette Rupprecht and Megan Otken. She was predeceased by her husband Albert, daughter Jean Otken and grandson Edwin Otken.
The viewing will be held at Budd Lake Chapel, 54 Sandshore Road on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 9:30 am followed by the service at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Budd Lake Chapel.
Funeral arrangments have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840.  Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.cochranfuneral.com/

Mrs Dot Rupprecht was a blessing to all who knew her. Her positive attitude was contagious. We are glad to have known her and enjoyed our car ride to the chapel. She loved talking about her family and their accomplisments.

One hundred years: What a beautiful life lived by a beautiful person! May the Lord comfort you all (as only He can) as you mourn Dot's passing, but may He also help you all to feel the joy of celebration she must feel now in the presence of the Lord. Unfortunately, we will miss the services for Dot, but we want you to know that you, her dear family, are in our thoughts and prayers.
