Scott was raised in Wharton and graduated from Morris Hills High School.
Scott was most recently employed as a driver for County Concrete in Oxford.
Scott was a family man who cared deeply for the people around him. He was most proud of his grandchildren.
Predeceased by his father, Ernest F. Matthews and stepfather, Barry D. Crites.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years Maggie Kaphon Matthews, his cherished daughters, Emily Matthews and fiancé Nick Nabozny, Angela Matthews and fiancé Tyler Carpenter, along with his treasured grandchildren, Delylah and Greyson. Scott is also survived by his loving mother, Betty J. Heath Crites, his two brothers, Keith and Stephen and his sister, Margo (Gabriel) Otey, along with his uncle, aunts, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial visitation will take place Friday, January 25, 2019 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840
A funeral service will take place Saturday, January 26,2019 at 11:00 am, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 213 Main Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.

Maggie, Angela and Emily, We fully intended to be with you today at Trinity but circumstances prevented us from being there.
Scott was a man we met years ago at a Lenten group at Ivy Meyers Mellows home. From that time on we always felt a connection with Scott whenever we met and spoke; his kindness and caring was always foremost in that relationship. We miss him.
We know that this loss will take time to realize, but that God in His wisdom will take care of you. We offer unceasing prayers that you will know His strength. Lauren, Harry, and Colin Mount.

Dear Maggie, Betty, Margo, Stephen, Keith, and family :
I first met Scott when he and his dad - Ernie, came to our wedding 39 years ago. He also worked with my husband, Josh and Ernie at Eagle Extrusion. We also presently live next door to Margo and were surprised the first year they moved in and had a party and we saw our old friends Ernie and Scott at her house that was when we realized that we were living next to Ernie's daughter. We love them as neighbors they are so friendly and helpful that we don't mind helping them at all. Margo if you need anything during this time please don't hesitate to call .
