Rita M.Slachetka Ryan
Died: Mar 23, 2018
She was formerly employed by Hackettstown Regional Medical Center as a Registered Dietitian, previous to that she was employed by Kittatiny School District, Newton, NJ as a Teacher. Rita was a devoted and loving homemaker who enjoyed the time she spent with her friends and family.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years: David Ryan, two brothers; Joseph Slachetka and wife Myra, Mark Slachetka and wife Winnie, one sister, Norine Melillo and husband Thomas, three nieces, Meg Slachetka, Sarah Thakkar and Karen Slachetka, one nephew, Michael Melillo.
The funeral will be held 7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. Cremation is private.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 4 - 8 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.

So very sorry....Rita gave my husband his diabetic education training, and she was a "hard-liner". We always referred to her fondly as the "food police". She made a positive difference in his life, and I know, in the lives of many other clients/patients. Deepest sympathy to all of you for her loss.

Dave, I was so saddened to hear of Rita's passing. I had the privilege of working and teaching with her at Hackettstown Hospital for many years. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
