George Journey, 58

George A. Journey of Long Valley passed away peacefully on September 25, 2017. He was in his home and surrounded by loved ones. George’s biggest priority was always his family and is survived by his wife

and best friend, Bernice Mea, his daughter, Mariangela Journey (Mimi) of Boston, his son George

Journey of York PA, and Nick Mea of Las Vegas, NV.

George was the owner of Homestyle Kitchens and Bath in Mt. Olive, NJ where he took pride in catering to customers’ needs as well as being a stand-up business man. He also helped out where he could and was a generous contributor to Habitat for Humanity.

George had a deep appreciation for antiques and spent all his free time collecting, expertly repairing and selling his finds. He had passion for music and could always be found taking care of the landscaping around the house while listening to the local WNTI radio station. George truly enjoyed the simple things in life – family, music, and making others happy.

He would sum it up:

Be not burdened with times of sorrow

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow

My life’s been full, I savored much

My precious family, a loved one’s touch

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief

Don’t’ lengthen it now with undue grief

Lift up your head and share with me

God wanted me now, He set me free

Condolences:

My dear cousin Bernie, Nick, George and Miami, I am so sorry for your loss! I'm glad I had the chance to meet George, to get to know, like and respect him. He was a sweet guy a terrific partner for Bernie and a great father to you kids. I wish I'd had the chance to see him (and you) again. My sincere condolences to you all.

George I only met you once. You were exactly the man Bernice said you were. You greeted me with largest smile even though we never met. You drove me in a beat up van where the seats were missing and your work was everywhere. It was interesting to say the least. But what I really remember was how Bernice beamed the entire time while you explained how far away you both lived. Bernice, you are so special to me and I am so sad and so happy for you at the same time. You met an awesome guy with a top hat that fed your soul and you got married. You and George are in my thoughts alive and well. I tip my hat to you George and Bernice.

I am devastated by George's passing. I loved this man. More so, I loved the way he cared, absolutely, for his children. And I was brought to tears as I witnessed his absolute love and admiration for Bernice. He was a good man that we lost too early. My heart is totally broken.
