life and love with her family and is survived her children, sixteen grandchildren and another on
the way. She is further survived by many loving family and friends.
Maryann spent most of her life in New Jersey. As a young adult, she studied to become a
teacher. Maryann was a gifted and loving educator for many years. She is fondly remembered
in the Camden County school system for her career as an elementary and middle school
teacher. Later in life she continued her work as a teacher in postsecondary education.
Maryann was a genuinely thoughtful and caring person in all aspects of her life. From the
moment she opened her eyes each day, she was always doing for her family, friends,
colleagues, community members, and others without ever expecting anything in return. She
loved donating her time and energy to noble causes, including making fleece no-sew blankets
and crocheting scarves for those in need, as well as volunteering as a meal coordinator for
Warren County’s Habitat for Humanity.
Maryann loved spending her free time with beloved family and friends. She delighted in belting
out songs to her favorite musicals and boisterously cheering on her favorite teams, such as the
Phillies and the Eagles. Maryann took to heart Bob Ross’s “happy accidents” strategy as she
learned to paint from his videos. She was fearless and energetic in tackling new experiences,
like learning new languages and traveling around the world.
Maryann was known for her positive mindset, her easy grace, and her unending strength. Loved
deeply by all who knew her, her spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of the countless people
she touched.
Maryann did not want a traditional viewing or funeral. Instead, she wanted a Celebration of Life;
details of this event will follow. Arrangements were entrusted to the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840
