Marie Brenda Zurine, age 76, a lifelong resident of Mansfield Township, NJ died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. Brenda was born March 11, 1939 in Newton, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Maud (Murphy) Schwanda. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband; Daniel, 1 grandson; Trevor Stephen Zurine, 2 granddaughters; Ayla and Dandelion Zurine. She was employed by Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, New Jersey as a Secretary for many years before retiring. Brenda loved the outdoors and being with nature. She enjoyed fishing, hiking and tending to her potted flowers. Most of all she loved spending time with her devoted family. She is survived by; 1 daughter; Marie Zurine-Whaley, 3 sons; Joe Zurine, Tom Zurine, David Zurine and wife Michelle, 1 sister; Norma Philhower, 1 brother Donald Schwanda and wife Jennifer, 2 grandsons; Christian Daniel Zurine, Jacob Mitchell Byelick, many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, September 10 at St. Mary's Church Of The Assumption, 305 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Father David Pekola officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hackettstown following the mass. At the family's request they will except flowers or memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, 6725 Lyons Street PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057 in memory of Brenda.
