Dear Shirley, Skip, Lenny, Kari, and the rest of your lovely family, I am sad and happy at the very same time during this time of such large loss. Your Mom will always be fondly remembered by me as a great Mother, a great friend, a loyal fan, and as a role model for my life. Simply stated, I want to be just like her. She exuded love, warmth, compassion, and wisdom. She was happy, active, and spread joy everywhere til the very end. I spent many fun times with Wanda and had many serious conversations with her. She advised me often in family matters, and I valued her opinions. She truly cared, and the feeling was mutual. Lastly, it was her humor, her love of life, and the grace with which she lived and died that impressed me the most. I am sorry that I cannot be there this weekend, but I will honor Wanda and wear my tie dye Wiley shirt and my short shorts ( over my long pants) to work as my way of saying goodbye. I'll be thinking of you and the beautiful way you all cared for and loved our special Wanda throughout her illness...and her entire life. She is now resting in eternal peace.
