Hildred M. Kane

Hildred M. Kane, age 82, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019.  Hillie was born September 16, 1937 in Hancock, NY to the late Melvin and Helen (Hazen) Smith.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James W. Kane in 2006, her son, Sean Michael Kane in 2019 her nephews, Billie and Richard Getchius and her brother, Melvin “Sonny” Smith.

Hillie was previously employed by Hackettstown High School as a Custodian where she retired in 2005. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Kathleen Kane, her step-son, James Kane and wife Helen, her sister, Cora Wright of South Carolina, her three grandchildren, Alexis, Ashley and Britney, great grandson Gage, many nieces, and her beloved dogs, Gizmo and Scuttles.   

The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, October 18 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.  Burial will follow at Hackettstown Union Cemetery, Hackettstown.

Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2019 from 12 noon - 2 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

Hillie was an amazing woman. Her memory will be carried on by her equally amazing daughter Kathleen, and granddaughters.

Again so sorry for loss. We are so sorry we were not at the viewing, somehow it didn't show up on my Facebook. I know Earl has very fond memories of your mom as did I. You and your family are in our hearts and prayers.

So sorry to hear about Hillie. She was a friendly woman who was always working hard for Hackettstown . While I was a cheerleading coach, she helped us with a smile, no matter how busy. She took pride in her work, as she took care of everyone else. She will be remembered.

Hillie and I worked at the high school together ‘forever’, we shared gossip and worries about our kids. She was good people and will stay in my heart and memory. Rest In Peace old friend.

We’ll miss you Hillie! Give Mike a big hug from all of us! See if Mrs. Smith remembers those noisy upstairs kids and Tell Jim the yard at 281 never looked the same. Love you! Kathy, Alexis and Ashley...hang in there! Brighter days are ahead.
