A lifelong resident of Warren County, Helen was best known as a compassionate but strong minded babysitter to hundreds of children in the greater Hackettstown area.
Helen is survived by four loving children, George L. Smith, Jr., Robert Smith and his wife Kim & Richard Smith and his wife Cynthia. One daughter, Patricia Johnson. Two sisters, Dorothy LaBadey & Betty Hezel; Sister’s-in-law, Florence & Betty Gruver. Beloved Grandchildren, Robert Smith, Jr. and wife Julie, Janice Davis and husband Wayne, Jason Munson, James Drechsel and wife Joanna, Christine Naili, Joseph Drechsel and wife Summitra. Rebecca Sparano and husband Thomas & Stephanie Johnson. 17 Great Grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her brothers Donald, Harry, Jake, Ernie and Jerry Gruver as well as two sisters, Florence Osborn & Leta Jadick.
At Helen’s request, there will be no funeral services. Donations may be made in Helen’s memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, Building B, Suite 2, Sparta, NJ. 07871. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.cochranfuneral.com. The Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. 07840 has been entrusted with Helen’s final wishes.

George, Bob, Rick and Patty, we send our prayers and condolences to you and your families during this time of sadness. Your mom will be remembered for her kind and generous ways.
