Nicole Lynn Scott, 38, died suddenly last week in Belvidere, New Jersey.
Nicole was born on September 27, 1980 to parents Edward John Welsh and Giorgina Tomeo Welsh in Hackettstown, New Jersey, joining older sister Racquele. The Welsh family remembers Nicole as their fun-loving, free-spirited, adventurous, fearless, and hard-working daughter and sister as well as an extraordinarily devoted mother to her son Haven Wisdom Scott (father Arric Scott).
They fondly recall Nicole’s love for the earth and the water. She enjoyed swimming at the family’s in-ground pool at her first home on Hope Road in Great Meadows, New Jersey and at the swimming pool of family friends Bob and Karen Russell. She enjoyed surfing and sun-bathing on the coasts of New Jersey, South Carolina, and Florida. In recent years, she found tranquility kayaking on Budd Lake. Nicole also rode the earth on skis at Shawnee Mountain and Camelback, on four-wheelers in Maine, and on dirt bikes in New Jersey. She loved apple-picking with her mother and sister every year on Columbus Day weekend at Gulick’s Fruit Farm in Bangor, PA, and like her family she loved working in the garden. As a young girl, she showed an entrepreneurial spirit, charging her cousins admission to use the family’s trampoline at their home of fifteen years on Cat Swamp Road in Allamuchy, NJ. Later in life, after earning an Associate Degree from the County College of Morris, she would apply her industriousness and passion for growing life as a landscape designer.
When her son was born on July 30, 2007, she invested all of her energy into being the best mother to Haven, her greatest creation. Nicole instilled in her son a commitment to sowing hope and helping others, and with Haven, she regularly donated her time to serving the needy and feeding the homeless. In her passing, Haven carries on her generous spirit and heartwarming laughter and smile.
Nicole is survived by Haven Wisdom Scott and his father Arric Scott; parents Edward and Giorgina Welsh; sister Racquele Welsh-Driscoll and her husband Matt; aunt Rose Tomeo-Rehm and her husband Jack; uncle Steve Tomeo, III and his wife Cindy; aunt Santina Flynn and her husband Stephen; aunt Barbara Welsh Bielan and her husband Jim; cousin Jonathan Rehm and his wife Erin; cousin Stephen Tomeo, IV and his wife Jenna; cousin Taylor-Marie Flynn Dubord and her husband Matt; cousin Kelly Rehm Tyree and her husband Ben; cousin Justin Flynn and his wife Kim; cousin Sara Tomeo DeLusant and her husband Steve; cousin Lisa Bielan Cranert and her husband Frank; cousin Brett Bielan; cousin Christine Bielan McClean; cousin Jessica Bielan Gile and her husband Eric; Arric’s mother Gladys Shanahan; Arric’s brother Daryl Williams; and Arric’s brother Kevin Scott and wife Laura.
In her passing, Nicole joins her brother Stephen Welsh; her Nonno and Nonni, Stefano and Raffaela Tomeo; and grandfather and grandmother Eugene and Emma Welsh.
We invite guests to join us at a Celebration of Life for Nicole that has been scheduled for Thursday, December 27 from 2:00-7:00 P.M. at the Independence Fire House in Great Meadows, New Jersey (24 Cemetery Rd. Great Meadows, NJ 07838). Family will greet Nicole’s loved ones from 2:00 until 4:00, followed by a service presided over by Reverend Dr. Frank Fowler III of Trinity United Methodist Church from 4:00-5:00, and time for stories and remembrances over food and drink from 5:00-7:00.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a GoFundMe campaign in support of Haven (Hope for Haven @ http://gf.me/u/pfi6qu ) or to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Hackettstown, New Jersey (213 Main Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840). Checks should be made out to Trinity United Methodist Church, noted for “Discretionary Fund.” Nicole and Haven volunteered their service to Trinity United, and the church provided generous support to them during times of need.
Even in this time of sorrow and grief, in the spirit of Nicole’s many qualities, we invite you to recall the words of Bob Marley, one of her favorite musicians: “As it was in the beginning / So shall it be in the end / Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright / Let’s get together and feel alright.” Earth, water, love, and spirit, may you watch over our dear Nicole.
Condolences:

I'm just now hearing this awful news and am at a deep loss, Nicole was a good person with one of the biggest hearts i have ever seen. In the small amount of time that we did know each other she was nothing short of motivation and inspirational. I hope her son is doing well because he truly was her heart. R.I.P Sleep well Nicole

I am truly shocked and sad to learn of Nicole's passing.
She was a gentle soul.
It had been several years since we last spoke but I will always remembered her and Racquele.
In a life where you encounter so many fake people, Nicole was the opposite.
Genuine and caring in an honest way.
I wish the family and friends comfort and all the best.

My Dear friend Nicole,
Not only did we share a name, but a love for nature. Our friendship was immediate, and bonded by the one that our sons share. My heart is deeply saddened by such a loss. You are now with Mother Earth and Father Time. Spread your wings and comfort us during our time of mourning, and shed your love to heal. Your passion and kindness was felt by many and by doing so, others are better people. Love you girl. ❤️

I remember Nicole from feeding the Homeless in Dover. Actually she was the first person I met there, and showed me what was required of volunteers. I always thought it was great that she brought her son with her to help . She was always there serving with a smile . I will always remember her and her dear son.
Prayers are with her family and especially her dear son.

Nicole will be so missed by me and family, she easily became a part of our family. She knew how to have fun with little to no money. She was the most outgoing person I knew. She loved the outdoors. We are going to miss seeing you during the holidays, especially New Year's Eve. May God Bless you, my Libra sister. We love you!!! Lisa, Darnell, LaNija, Gary and Orlando.
