Alexander Richard Duda, 74, died at his home of over 42 years in Mansfield Township on February 16, 2014. Born in Lyndhurst, NJ, Al wa sthe son of the late Alexander and Helen Duda of Hackettstown. Al is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Theresa Duda; his daughter, Sharon Duda and her husband, Dan Davis and their daughter, Maya, of Annandale; and his son-in-law Mike Dox, of Annandale. Al lost his daughter, Denise Duda Dox, to a long illness in May 2013. Al had 6 siblings: Edward deceased in 1982; Kenneth deceased in 2006; Richard of Lake Shawnee; Robert of Saylorsburg, Pa; Elizabeth “Sue” Farr of Salt Lake City, UT; and Terrie Duda Harris of Santa Fe, NM. Al is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and 20 grand nieces and nephews.
Al graduated Netcong High School in 1958 and joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. He served honorably, primarily in Korea, and was on the Army Pistol Team where he developed a love for target shooting that became a lifelong passion. Al belonged to the NJ Rifle & Pistol Association, the Shongum Sportsman Association, the American Trap Association, the Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers Club, and the Old Bridge Rifle & Pistol Club. Al won 6 American championships in Dayton, OH and 12 national pistol challenges in Canton, OH. Al graduated Fairleigh Dickinson University with a BS in accounting and had a long career with Bristol Myers Squibb.
Al was a family man, a sportsman, a son, a brother, a father, a grandfather, always a friend, and will be in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 19th, 2014 from 10 – 11:30 am at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Services to follow at 11:30 am with Father George Dudak officiating.
For those desiring donations may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860 in memory of Al.

To The Duda Family, So sorry to hear about Al, he was a good friend as all the Duda's were!! Growing up in Budd Lake, they were our neighbors and classmates!! Spent much time at their home and have wonderful memories!!!

Aunt Terry and Sharon,
So sorry to hear of Uncle Al's passing. Although years and miles have kept us separated, my Duda relatives are in my thoughts, prayers and heart always. Praying that God will give you all strength during such a sad and difficult time.
