We would like to send our condolences to the family as Eckhardt was a one of a kind person. I always thought of him as another brother to me in our family since I knew him my whole life! I will remember me so fondly with his love for life and a great laugh! RIP Eckhardt, you maybe gone for now but not forgotten. Wishing all his family love and comfort in these hard times.

Really heartbroken over the news of Eck's passing. I started working with him in 1982 and over the following 16 years we worked together doing a lot of good things for the environment that he loved so much. We also managed to squeeze in a little fun (imagine that!). Our paths separated after that but I thought of him often. He was a luminary in every sense of the word and the things he did, and taught to others, will live on. Peace brother.
