Gene V. Dragnett of Allamuchy, New Jersey (Panther Valley) died on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. Born on August 23, 1941, Gene was the son of the late William and Helen Breitweg Dragnett. Gene lived in Allamuchy for 26 years after moving from Caldwell with his wife and best friend, Lauren. Gene studied architectural technology at the Newark College of Engineering and worked in the engineering field both as a independent consultant and for various companies in the area for many years. Gene had many interests and hobbies including a love for photography, piloting small planes, latin jazz and classical music. His love for music was renowned amongst his family and friends and he enjoyed singing as a member of the Warren County Community Singers. Gene served proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard U.S.S. Wasp (CV-18) and was a member of Blue Ridge Post #164 American Legion, Hackettstown, New Jersey. Gene will be remembered by everyone for his warm heart and his quick wit. He will be greatly missed by his wife Lauren, his son Gene Paul,  granddaughter, Debbie Beeson,  his stepdaughter Kelley Chase, his cousin Carol Henke and nieces Vedette Keplar and Victoria Rentrop and 2 nephews, Keith Dragnett and Kevin Dragnett. Sadly Gene was pre-deceased by his son Brian in 2001, his brother Kent in 2009 and his step son David Chase in 2012. His family friends take comfort in knowing that he is at peace with the Lord. Memorial visitation will be from 10am to 12 noon on Saturday May 28, 2016 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street Hackettstown, NJ 07840. So sorry to hear of Gene's passing. He and I have been friends since 1945 and we had many good times together playing together as kids in West Orange. I will miss him very much. Our sympathies to your family.
