Arnold Allan “Red” Schumacher (91) passed away peacefully at home in Andover, NJ on Saturday, April 20, 2019.
His parents were Dewey Bird Schumacher and Laura Ackerman.
He was born in Neenah, WI on April 3, 1928. He married Mary Louise Markovich (deceased) on December 29, 1950 in Neenah, WI. They had 7 children; David Bruce Schumacher residing in CA, Christy Ann Watters residing in NJ, Beth Lynne Phan residing in NJ, Brian Keith Schumacher residing in WV and Laura Marie Bellinger residing in VA. Jeffrey Howard Schumacher and Scott Alan Schumacher (both deceased) resided in CA. He had 14 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
Surviving siblings; Howard Schumacher residing in OR and Ruth Selear residing in AZ. Gordon Bruce Schumacher resided in CA (deceased).
He graduated high school in Neehah, WI in 1945 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from The Regents of the Institute of Technology, WI in 1953.
Arnold served in the Navy in World War II from 1947 to 1952 where he received an Honorable Discharge along with the WWII Victory Metal.
He worked as a Civil and Mechanical Engineer. His knowledge and expertise granted him many opportunities to work with engineering firms all over the East Coast.
His passions were his family, his faith and his love for designing, remodeling and building. He was a very talented master craftsman. Someone could say they needed a table or bench or chairs and two hours later he would have a design drawn and days later would have it built. His family will continue to enjoy having his many creations in each of their homes.
He’ll be remembered for always loving to play games with his family. Yahtzee or board games with the grandkids and the many different kinds of card games with his children. He loved sweet treats and was always fiddling with something but usually his hearing aids. He struggled with type II diabetes and lung cancer in his later years but always showed support, strength and love.
