Edward W. Nest, III, age 36, of Winchester, VA died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Frederick, MD as a result of a tragic car accident. Edward was born December 23, 1975 in Weehawken, NJ. He was the loving son of Edward W. Nest, Jr. and Rosalyn (Anderson) Nest. He was the loving husband of Paula (van Snik) Nest for 12 years.
 

Ed graduated from the Ohio Unviversity in 1997 with a B.S. degree in journalism.  He had a long career as a journalist and writer in the newspaper industry.  He was an award-winning writer, layout designer, and poet.  He worked for many papers including the Baltimore Sun, the Winchester Star, USA Today and the Asbury Park Press.  Most recently he was employed by Baltimore Sun Newspaper, Baltimore, MD.

Ed was an avid sports fan and enjoyed video poker and visiting Atlantic City and Las Vegas.  He loved to spend time at home with his wife Paula and their cat Buttercup.

He is survived by his wife: Paula (van Snik) Nest; parents, Edward W. Nest, Jr. and mother Rosalyn (Anderson) Nest; sister, Andrea Nest;  grandmother, Lillian Nest; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Han and Coby van Snik; brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Sherri van Snik; sister-in-law and husband, Ellen and Matt Gray; nephews and nieces, Evan and Katie van Snik, Connor, Ava and Leah Gray.

Predeceased by his late brother, Brian Jonathon Nest.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Monday, March 26 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 4 Church Street, Netcong, NJ with Father Nick officiating. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Andover.

Calling hours will be Sunday, March 25 from 1:00 - 3:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J.
