Lynda, I am so very sorry about Dan's passing. I am sorry that I was not able to attend the viewing as I was in Kansas at the time visiting my parents. Thank you also for calling Ted to let him know; he thought the world of Dan, and I know he will miss his presence especially during hunting season. Dan was such a good person, respected and admired by so many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Mr Doherty was my 6th-8th grade gym teacher. He was also my coach for soccer, basketball, and baseball. What a great guy. My middle school years give me fond memories of him. Always was there for me as a kid. My sincere condolences to Amy and the entire Doherty family for their loss.

I only met Dan a couple of times but found him to be a really nice guy. Last time I saw him was when he was helping his neighbor Mike McKell from across the street build a garage. He was taken far too early & will be missed.

Our twins knew Mr. Doherty well and said he was "the best gym teacher of all time". I remember seeing him at a school meeting with many accolades presented to him. We offer our condolences to the family. He left behind a legacy that both adults and kids all recognize and continue to value. We are sad at his passing, and it was way too soon, not that it's ever otherwise.

Dear Lynda and Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Dan's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Dan for seven plus years. Dan was a role model for what all educators should strive to be. Working beyond the normal school hours to meet the needs of his students and/or his colleagues was typical of Dan. You never had to ask twice when requesting Dan to check in with a student and/or parent. Everyone respected Dan whether he was fulfilling his role as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. The fact that the school's sports fields bare his name underscores the love and respect that everyone had for him. Even though I served as one of his "bosses" during his career, I always considered him a colleague and a friend. God bless Dan, and sincere thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Dear Lynda,
So sorry to hear about my friend Dan. He was a great coach and AD. We took many bus trips together with his teams on the bus. His coaching was special. I go way back with Dan. He had many talents and strengths, even painting our Randolph home on one occasion. And Lynda, you also go way back as a teacher and friend at Mendham Township. Our most sincere wishes and love for you and your family. God bless you going forward.

Amy, Jenn and Mrs. Doherty, words cannot express how sorry I am for your family during such a hard time. I pray nothing but the pain away and strength to guide you through this time of need. I love you Amy and I am here for you and your family in anyway I can be. You have always spoke highly of Mr. Doherty and I know he will be missed by many but he is with each of you day in and day out through your minds body and soul. He will be your protector and guidance and you will never be alone.
