Richard F. "Satch" Theusen died on Wednesday, 3/21/12 at St. Lukes Hospital, Warren Campus, Phillipsburg, N.J. Born in Paterson, N.J. 09/4/34 he was the son of the late Aloys & Helene Ronsdorf Theusen. Richard grew up in Hackettstown, N.J. and moved to Washington Twp. (Warren Co.) in 1968.
He was employed by Morris County Youth Center and retired as Director after 29 yrs. of service . After his retirement, he worked part time at Hosking Livery Service, Hackettstown, N.J. as a driver. "Satch" as many of his friends knew him, graduated from Hackettstown High School in 1953 where he excelled in Football & Baseball. He graduated from the University of South Carolina where he started on both the Football and Baseball teams.
He was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church, Washington, N.J. and was an exempt member of the Washington Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years. When his children were growing up, Richard volunteered as a coach for many years in the Washington Twp. Youth Sports program. Through the years, Richard loved going to the Horse Track or OTB and going out for breakfast with his group of friends known as the "Breakfast Club".
He is survived by 2 sons - Gary (Lena) Theusen - Holland Twp., N.J. & Mark Williams - Bangor, Pa., 2 Daughters - Donna (Anthony) Peruta - Calabash, North Carolina & Jody (Chip) Kries - Washington Twp. (Warren Co.) N.J.
1 Sister - Rita (Sam) Bocchino - Port Murray, N.J.
6 Grandchildren - Derek & his wife Joannie, Brittany, Laura, Adam, Karylyn & Kasey
3 Great Grandchildren - Logan, Blake & Eloise.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Georgia Chandler in 1968 and his second wife, Arlene Roscher in 2008 as well as a grandson, Mark Richard Williams in 2007. Being together with his family meant everything to him and that included his best friend "Cleo" the cat!
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, 3-24-12 from 1 to 4pm with memorial services beginning at 4pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, N.J. 07840. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, N.J.
