Robert G. Lakin, age 90, died November 29, 2012 at the House of the Good Shepherd, Hackettstown, N.J. Robert was born January 3, 1922 in Taylorville, ILL. He is the son of the late Clyde Otis and Dorothy M. (Sabine) Lakin. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn (Hartwick) Lakin. (Nov. 1999) .  Robert is also predeceased by a daughter, Debra Lakin, 2 brothers, MK Lakin, Lt. Col. Eugene C. Lakin and a 2 sisters, Gertrude Harkins and Marilyn Downing.

He was an Electrical Engineer and worked for Westinghouse in Newark, NJ and Coral Springs, FL. For 33 years, retiring in 1983.

Mr. Lakin spent much of his retirement in Colorado and Florida. He was a member of Hildale Park Presbyterian Church, Cedar Knolls, NJ; member of the Illinois National Guard 1938 and the Troop D 94th Calvary Recon Squad enlisted 1942; member of the 14th Armored Division called "The Liberators" fighting in France and Rhineland,  until the end of WW II where they liberated many of the German camps. He was the recipient of 2 Bronze Stars.

He is survived by a son; Brian D. & wife Maureen Lakin; South Bend, IN; a daughter Janette & husband Michael Sands, Panther Valley, NJ; 3 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren; many loving nephews and nieces throughout the country.

A graveside service will be held in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on January 15, 2013 at 2pm. Cremation was private.
