Robert Durling Lobell, 85 , died  April 30,2011 in  Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Hackettstown, N.J..  Robert lived in  the Panther Valley Section of Allamuchy, N.J. for many years  and was born in Bloomfield, N.J. on August 24, 1925.

Survived By: He was predeceased by his brothers, William (Brigadier General USMC, ret.) and Stuart, and his wife Marion (Ross). He is remembered fondly by his wife , Irene, sons Robert J., Ross, Stephen, Mark, Eric, and Gregory, daughter, Susan, 13 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.

Occupation: Bob served as Vice President of the Ironbound Heat Treating Company of Newark, and later Roselle, N.J., retiring in 1985

Veteran Info: He served in the U.S. Navy and attended Swathmore College under the U.S. Navy V12 program enabling him to serve as a Commanding Officer of LCT 637 during WWII

Additional Information:  Bob was the third son of William & Norma Durling Lobell and graduated from Bloomfield H.S. where he played Halfback on the 1942 State Championship football team and attained All-State status as a pitcher on the baseball team. Prior to graduating from the Lehigh University with a degree in Business Administration he attended Swathmore College under the V12 Navy program. His lifelong love of the outdoors included the breeding and raising of beagles for hunting and field trials. After his retirement in 1985, he pursued his interest in horseshoe pitching, where he was a member of the Hunterdon and Warren County Horseshoe Pitching clubs, and competed successfully, garnering 3 N.J. Class State Individual Championships and 2 in doubles.
