Occupation: He was the first Executive Director of the Hackettstown Chamber of Commerce, retiring many years ago. Previously he was employed for 37 years by three companies in research and development in such projects as reclamation of low grade ores, rocket engines, and laser beam aiming devices.

Additional Information:  Mr. Palmer was a graduate of Hackettstown High School, Class of 1933. During the 1930's depression, Mr. Palmer was the State Clerk of the CCC Camp in Hackettstown. Before World War II, he was in the 112th Field Artillery in Morristown, NJ. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America (1950-60) both at the local and state level. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award in Scouting in 1956. He also served 20 years on the Hackettstown Board of Education working at the local and state level. He was also active in the PTA and the Hackettstown Historical Society. Mr. Palmer loved to work with his hands. He built his home on Vail street and taught his sons and grandsons the basics in carpentry, auto maintenance and plumbing. He was a generous teacher and loving parent, instilling honor and good citizenship in each of his children.
