Mona (Lavor) Mandell (1934-2020) passed away peacefully from congestive heart failure on August 13, 2020 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born November 28, 1934 in Newark, NJ to Hilda and Meyer Lavor. Mona was married for 55 years to Jack Mandell who preceded her in death in 2010.
Mona was past President of Hadassah in Passaic, past President of the School Board for Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne, and secretary for former Congressman Robert Roe. She was also the eprsonal assistant for Joseph Mattar at Macaluso ’s Banquets and Events.
Mona moved from New Jersey to Florida in 2014 made many dear friends and discovered a love for quilting. She joined the local guild and completed dozens of projects for family and friends.
Mona was predeceased by her children Steven and Deborah and is survived by her daughters and their husbands Michele and George Jung, Hannah and Joseph Mattar, Lisa Klee, son-in-law Anthony Basic, and daughter-in-law Lucia Mandell; granddaughters Nicole, Marissa, Sarah; grandsons Matthew (and Olivia), Benjamin (and Melissa), Daniel (and Susanne), David; great grandchildren Asa, Opal, Geneva and Ulysses
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mona ’s name may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice (www.KarenAnnQuinlanHospice.org).
A private funeral will be held at the King Solomon Memorial Park in Clifton.
Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to do so on Saturday, August 15th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown.
