 Joseph J. Moore, Sr., age 93, of Hackettstown, NJ formerly of New York City and Queens, NY died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at House of Good Shepherd, Hackettstown, NJ.  Joe was born July 1, 1923 in New York City, NY. He was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Ritomsky) Moore.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene (Barry) Moore in 1993.

He served proudly in the US Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946.  He retired from Frank B. Hall & Co., New York City, NY as an Insurance Underwriter after many years of service.  Joe grew up on the Upper East Side, went to St. Joseph’s School and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church.  He enjoyed playing golf with friends, playing Trivia games and listening to music.  Joe was known for his great sense of humor and one liners. 

Joe is survived by his devoted daughter, Elizabeth Hurley, his son, Joseph Moore, Jr. and wife Fay, 4 cherished grandsons, Brian, Patrick, Denis and Spencer.

Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton (Long Island), NY on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 12 Noon.

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of another member of The Greatest Generation. What a kind, intelligent and "class act" gentleman your Dad was, Joe. Dear Dad, You were a very good person, easy going, lovable and witty. You were not only my Dad but also my best friend. I have very many fond memories and because of those memories I will never forget you. I will miss you dearly. God Bless You. Rest In Peace. Your Son, Joey

Joe, Faye, and Spencer. I am sorry for your loss. I remember seeing him at spaghetti supper. His enthusiasm and joy for life were infectious. We will all miss him. David
