Heath Edward Wood, age 39, of Hackettstown, NJ formerly of Shawnee Mission, KS died Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. Joseph's Medical Center of Tacoma, WA. Heath was born February 5, 1976 in Shawnee Mission, KS. He is the son of Amanda (Klippel) Atanasio and Edward Wood. He was employed by Kirby Offshore Marine, LLC of Seattle, Washington as a Chief Engineer. Heath was living his lifelong dream of being the Chief Engineer on the “Nathan E. Stewart” Tugboat in Washington State and fulfilling his desire to travel to Alaska. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his “85” Corvette and traveling to attend the Kansas City Chiefs football games. He is survived by ; his mother, Amanda (Klippel) Atanasio; his father, Edward Wood and wife Rita, his sister, Charlene Walsh; a step-sister, Jamie Becker; his maternal grandmother, Chrisma Ann Klippel; his 2 uncles, Dave Klippel and wife Angela; Dan Klippel and wife Monica and many cousins. Heath is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Paul Klippel, paternal grandparents, John and Josephine Wood, his step-father, Captain Salvatore Atanasio, Jr. and his uncle Randy Klippel and his wife Linda. Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ on Friday, April 17th, 2015 from 4-6 pm with services beginning at 6 pm. Cremation will be private.

Dear Atanasio/Wood family we are saddened by your loss. Heath was a dear friend loved by all and will be sadly missed. He had a great smile was a fantastic person, had a hugh heart.
