IPPOLITI, Barbara, wife, mother, grandmother, 74 of Long Valley, NJ passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 4.

Barbara was born in Passaic and graduated from Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in 1964. After graduation, she began working at St. Mary’s Hospital Labor and Delivery. In September 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard, and they would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this September. She then worked at the Beth Israel surgical department and Central Bergen Visiting Nurse before taking time off to raise her two daughters, Alison and Marisa. In 1986, Barbara went back to nursing, working for surgeons in private practice until she retired in 1998.

Barbara truly loved life to its fullest through simple pleasures. She was always full of happiness and joy – forever with a smile on her face. She was the kindest and most thoughtful person you could ever meet, always putting others before herself. In her genuine love, she had a way of always making you feel special.

She had many passions in life, but none greater than her vegetable garden, flowers, and fruit trees. Summer was her favorite season because the magic of nature came to life for her – the beauty of seeing all of her favorite flowers in bloom, especially her colorful zinnias, and harvesting the fruits and vegetables from her garden. How she loved picking and canning the tomatoes and especially her favorite summer sandwich – bacon lettuce and tomato.

Unconditional in her love for her family and friends, another of her great loves was cooking and spending time with her family. Oh, how she looked forward to all of the holidays and special events because it meant she could cook up a storm for us and we would all be together. She was an amazing chef and we would all laugh because there was always too much food, but that was ok because it meant lots of leftovers for us. Whether it was Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Easter, our birthdays or even just Sunday dinners, so much thought and love was put into making every gathering special.

Barbara also enjoyed traveling with her husband Richard. From Italy, Amsterdam, Greece, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii, to the trips to Florida, to the beach vacations with her grandchildren, she made many lasting memories and visited many memorable places.

In 2006, she welcomed her first grandchild into the world and she and Richard went back to work opening Camp Winchester for them. To this day, she loved taking care of her grandchildren Sofia (12) and Olivia (9). Much like with her own daughters, she taught her granddaughters to slow down and enjoy life’s simple things, like picking flowers, and cooking, and coloring, and sewing, and family. They will forever share those special memories with her.

She is survived by her beloved husband Richard Ippoliti; loving children Alison (nee Ippoliti) and Diogenes Uribe, Marisa Ippoliti, and cherished and treasured grandchildren Sofia and Olivia Uribe.

In her loving memory, a celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church, 2 East Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853.  Arrangements under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, Nj 07840.  Online condolences may be made at www.cochranfuneral.com
