Santina  Flynn
Died: Aug 6, 2019
Flynn

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Santina Maria Tomeo-Flynn. Santina was the most loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Daughter a family could ask for. She was passionate about her gardens, surrounding her home in a park worthy setting.  She was an exceptional hairdresser for over 40 years, creating many amazing and life-long friendships through her work. She was a Active member of the Hackettstown Ladies Auxiliary, and dedicated her later years to the support of Fire, Police and EMS services, and our US Troops, both Active and Veterans. Santina peacefully succumbed to a 5 year battle with Stage 4 Breast Cancer on August 6, 2019; she was surrounded by her family at home.

Santina leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Stephen Flynn, Daughter Taylor-Marie Dubord and Son-in-law Matthew Dubord, Son Justin Flynn and Daughter-in-Law Kimberly Flynn. Grandchildren Payton Flynn, Ella Dubord and Knox Dubord. Sister, Giorgina Welsh and husband Ed, Sister, Rose Tomeo-Rehm and husband Jack, and Brother, Stefano Tomeo III and wife Cindy.  Sister-in-Law, Kathlene Pyne and husband Bob, Sister-in-Law, Karen Curry and Husband Fred. Father-in-Law, Roland Flynn and Mother-in-Law, Annamarie Flynn. Santina also leaves behind many loving Nieces and Nephews.

Santina joins both her Parents, Stefano Tomeo Jr. and Raffaela Tomeo in eternity.

The viewing will be held at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840, on Sunday August 11, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We welcome all family and friends to come say their goodbyes at that time. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 17, 2019 at Cochran Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM followed by a procession to the celebration of life at the Independence Township Fire Department, 24 Cemetery Road, Independence, NJ 07838 from 1:30 PM until 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Santina’s Non-Profit Foundation, “Cookies for the Troops LLC” so that we may continue the legacy she has started.  Donations may be made to The Funeral Staff during the viewing at Cochran Funeral home or anytime online at www.facebook.com/pg/cookiesforthetroops/

The last time I was with Sandy she had told me a story about something that happened to us in the second grade. She had jolted my memory, I would have never recalled that memory. She had me laughing so hard, I cried. I wish I could have made it to Sandy’s Celebration of Life. God Bless.

I am so sorry that Louis and I are not able to attend the the the memorial service this Saturday. We have an annual family vacation and will be away over the weekend. I know that Santina was so determined to continue living the life that she wanted, through this lengthy illness. And she lived it fruitfully providing strength and accomplishments for all those around her, both family and friends. I believe that heaven has received a brightly shining star.

To Steve, Justin, Taylor, Giorgina, Rosie and Steven you will survive this terrible pain. Grief will be less painful as years pass, but it will take time. The beautiful lessons learned from Sandy are yours forever. May God comfort you. I know you wonder why a so called loving God, would take her from you. We do not understand it either. But we believe you will see her again in heaven. She will be in a glorified body with all sickness gone. We are so sorry for your loss.

Words cannot convey how sorry we are to learn if Sandy’s passing. She was truly a remarkable woman. Over the years we have kept up with her battle with cancer through her blogs and Facebook posts. With each post it became apparent just how strong and faithful Sandy was. We learned more and more about her loving, supportive family and all of the people whose lives she touched. As I have told her many times, she was my hero. We are lucky to have video of her dancing the night away at our daughter Heathers wedding. Big smile on her face. That’s how we will remember her. Rest In Peace dear angel.
