 Robert Douglas Jones, 92, of Heath Village, Hackettstown, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Born June 29, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY, Robert was the son of the late Philip F. & Florence Richardson Jones. Mr. Jones lived in the Hackettstown area for the past six years having moved from Maplewood, NJ where he resided for forty-one years. He grew up on Long Island, graduated from Baldwin High School in 1943 and entered the US Navy.

Robert proudly served his country from 1943 to 1946 as a radio and communication specialist in the Pacific during World War II. After his military service, Bob continued his schooling at Amherst College, graduating with honors and was selected for membership in the PHI BETTA KAPPA Society. After college, he began a career with Prudential Insurance in Newark, NJ and retired as a manager with their Actuarial Department. Bob loved music, played both piano and organ, and was still giving bridge lessons at 90. He was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church in Basking Ridge, NJ.

Mr. Jones is survived by his sister, Carol A. Fuller of Stowe, VT, sister, Nancy J. Placko of Andover, NJ, and brother, Peter D. Jones of Centerville, OH. At Robert’s request, a graveside service will take place at the cemetery of the Presbyterian Church, Basking Ridge, NJ on Thursday June 14, 2018 at 4:30 pm.
