E. Lucille Whitmire

 E. Lucille Whitmire, age 98, of Hackettstown died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Andover Subacute Nursing Home of Andover, NJ.  Lucille was born February 13, 1917 in Roanoke, VA. She is the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Lula May (Abshire) Whitmire.  
She was previously employed as a Teacher for Independence Township School district for 10 years, she then became the Librarian for the Mansfield School District for 17 years before retiring.   She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Honorary Society of Women Educators, New Jersey Education Association and the NJ Retired Teachers Association.  Lucille was a world traveler, she was baptized in the Jordan River, loved to paint, was dedicated Pianist, and enjoyed gardening.  She was small in stature with an enormous heart and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
She was precede in death by her 3 brothers; Harold F., Ralph N. and Raymond L. Whitmire and her 1 sister; Vivian M. Whitmire.
Visitation will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Main Street, Hackettstown, NJ on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 2-3 pm with services beginning at 3 pm.
Burial will be in Fair View Cemetery, Roanoke, VA on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
Services are under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ  07840.

Lucille was one of my favorite DKG sisters. She was always so friendly and interested in what we were doing. I will miss her.
