Schering-Plough Corp. and Hackettstown Medical Center retiree, loving mother and grandmother

Doris L. Wagner, 88, of Hackettstown, NJ, formerly of Roselle, NJ entered into eternal rest at home on Tuesday August 16, 2016.  A funeral service for Doris will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Hackettstown at 10:30 am.  Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.

Doris was born on December 13, 1927 in Bayonne, NJ.  Raised in Bayonne, Doris graduated Bayonne High School and Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in New York City.  Doris lived in Elizabeth and Roselle and worked for over 20 years at Schering-Plough Corporation in Union, NJ, where she held several positions in Human Resources before retiring in 1990. 

Doris moved to Hackettstown in 1991 to live and be close to her beloved family – her daughter Donna, son-in-law Charles and her beloved grandsons Paul and Matthew.  After retiring, Doris continued to live an active life.  She was an active member of Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Hackettstown, the Mount Olive Senior Center and a long-time volunteer and employee of Hackettstown Medical Center.  In 2012, Doris received a citation from the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly for her long-time volunteer work at Hackettstown Medical Center.  She was also inducted into the Senior Hall of Fame that same year.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Matilda Wagner and is survived by her loving daughter Donna, her son-in-law Charles Pomel, and her two very beloved grandsons Paul and Matthew Pomel.  She is also survived by her sister Phyllis Safaryn, nephew Dr. John Safaryn and his wife Elaine and their daughter Elizabeth; and niece Susan Conroy and her husband Sean and their children Christopher, Ryan and Erin.

The 4-H community will keep Doris and the Pomel family in our hearts. Doris was a dearly loved volunteer at our annual Fair and Tricky Tray. She will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear cousin Doris passed away. The Edward Wagner family Loved her very much. I will always have wonderful memories of Doris and her entire family. I miss you all. Deepest Sympathies! Love Marlene
