 Evelyn Rose Lay, age 78, of Mansfield Township formerly of Landing, NJ died Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at home.  Evelyn was born August 25, 1940 in Manhattan, NY to the late Patrick John and Evelyn Rose (McQuillan) Ahern.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Marion Dall. 

Evelyn was a proud graduate from St. Vincent’s Hospital, NY, School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse.  She was previously employed by Roxbury Medical Group, Roxbury, NJ as a Registered Nurse, prior to that she was a Registered Nurse at Dover General Hospital for many years.  Evelyn lived for her family, she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  She had a great passion for gardening and traveling to Fort Myers, Florida.  Evelyn was a former member of a social group called the Hill Toppers, Landing, NJ 

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Evelyn “Sis” Rose Lay, her two loving sons, Charles T. Lay,   Patrick Lay and wife Maureen, two brothers, Patrick "Paddy" Ahern and wife Judy, Robert "Bobby" Ahern,  six grandchildren, Patrick, Charlie, Nadine, Erin, Allison, Megan and 1 great grandson, Nicholas.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, October 27 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Father Antony Arockiadoss officiating.  Burial will follow at Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows.

Visitation will be Friday, October 26 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Foundation, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860 in memory of Evelyn.

Karin and I have known Evelyn for a short 16yrs and have a lot of great memories at Pointe South with her and her family we will miss her.
