Francis Minnie Mincevich
Died: May 21, 2020

Minnie has three children: Cindy L. Neumann and husband Robert of Great Meadows, Steven F. Mincevich of Great Meadows and Stacey L. Tillou and husband John of Hackettstown. Six grandchildren: James F. Neumann and wife Elizabeth of Elon, NC, Richard F. Neumann and wife Erin of Belvidere, NJ and Michael S. Neumann of Great Meadows, Kristina Tillou of Salisbury, MD, Jennifer Tillou of Hackettstown and Megan Tillou of Great Meadows. Four Great –grandchildren: Francis, Fitzpatrick and Cora Neumann and Mackenzie Dietl. A sister Wanda Stephens of Andover, NJ, a sister in law, Susan Chabok of New Providence, NJ.
Minnie was predeceased by his parnets Julius and Mary Kuczynski Mincevich. Also, his siblings: Julius, Eugene, Walter, Albert and Veronica.
Minnie was a 1950 graduate of Hackettstown High School. After graduation he went to Olympia Junior College in Washington State, then to the University of South Carolina on a full athletic scholarship to play football. While there he earned the honors of All-ACC guard for two years, All-American Guard his senior year and played in the N/S Shriners Bowl, Oyster Bow, Senior Bowl All-Star team and was drafted by the San Fransico 49ers’. His draft to play for the 49’er’s ended when his military draft number was called. He then played semi pro ball for the Hamilton Wild Cats in Ontario, Canada. In 1975 he was inducted into the Athetic Hall of Fame at South Carolina. In 2015 he was named as one of the top 50 athletes at the college and in 2018 he became one of the inaugural inductees of the HHS Athletic Hall of Fame.
Minnie married Jean on June 16, 1956. He worked for Doncheski Bros. of Hackettstown from the time he was 17 years old. The company was later bought by Makarevich Bros. and he continued to work there as a mechanic, mostly servicing hay balers until his retirement. He also worked in the mines of Mine Hill, New Jersey
Minnie Coached youth baseball and the Biddy Football Team where they won a championship and never had a losing season. He was a member of the Hackettstown Moose Lodge and the Independence Gun Club of which he was a founding member.
Due to Coronavirus restrictions, funeral services will be private at this time. In lieu of flowers, a football scholarship at Hackettstown High School will be made in Minnie’s name. My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Mincevich Family and friends. A great football player at Hackettstown High School and for the University of South Carolina. A great person who I will miss seeing and talking to at HHS Tiger football and basketball games. RIP Minnie we will always love you

Minnie coached my son in Little League football, was just a great all around guy & friend. We all hunted togeather for years with the club. God will be greatly entertained with him around!

Our condolences to the Mincevich family.Frank was a longtime friend of the family.Had so much fun through the years with him.I remember when the whole town waited up to see the Ed Sullivan show because Frank was going to be on. Everyone was so proud. May he rest in peace.

Frank was one of my favorite people to exchange football experiences with. His stories were always the best.... and I'll never forget them.... thus I'll never forget him. The "Friendly Bear" always had a positive impact on my life.

I am very happy and honored to be able to say that I took care of Mini in the nursing home! I loved him! He was awesome! He was one as you all know him, to tell things as they were, and never took crap from any one! What was there not to love about him! I will definitely miss you Mini! We are very saddened to learn of the passing of our longtime friend, (Frank) Minnie....Our Sincere Sympathy to the entire family.
