Vilardi
Sally Langgaard Vilardi Sally Vilardi (nee Langgaard), 68 of Long Valley, NJ passed away on Monday, April 24 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Livingston, NJ, Sally was raised in Chatham, NJ from the age of 7 and graduated from Chatham High School in 1966. After high school she earned an Associates degree from Penn Hall Junior College then attended the National Academy School of Fine Arts in New York on a scholarship. Afterward, Mrs. Vilardi married in 1970 and attended Art Students League in New York City while living in Jersey City. The Vilardis then settled in Long Valley, NJ where for over 35 years they lovingly restored a 1870 farmhouse, and raised two children. In Long Valley Sally made many lifelong friendships with her neighbors, colleagues, and members of the community. Gardening was a passion for Sally and the plot surrounding the farmhouse was like a canvas where she artfully tended to an ever-changing landscape of vegetable and flower gardens. Botanical drawing and painting was also a lifelong interest which brought Sally much joy and her works have decorated the homes of many friends and family members. Sally was co-owner of the Schooley’s Mountain General Store from 1993 to 2005. After selling the General store in 2005, Sally and her daughter Kathryn opened and operated a pie shop café in Long Valley for three years. Sally was the beloved mother of daughter Kathryn and son Jason; devoted sister of the late Jean Martin; aunt of niece Stephanie Sahr (nee Martin) and nephew Eric Martin; Loving partner of Ron Mead; She is survived by a maternal uncle, former Governor of New Jersey, Brendan Byrne as well as many fond Byrne family cousins. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ on Sunday, May 7, from 2:00 until 4:00 at which time a celebration of life will be held. For directions or to send the family condolences, please visit www.cochranfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Karen Anne Quinlan Hospice (www.karenannquinlanhospice.org).

Dear Kate & Jason, Just heard about Mom and send our deepest sympathy to you. Just loved your Mom and she was such a loving, positive person and was always so upbeat and would stop when I was outside to "catch up". My life was enriched by having Sally as a friend. I visited her just one week ago and we shared happy memories. We met as co-workers at Stella G's and soon became good friends. Three of us at Stella's were 60+ and I dubbed us the "Golden Girls". I'll miss you Sally, my friend....❤️

So sorry to hear about Sally. I remember her attendance at our 50th High School Reunion and had no idea she was ill. She also attended other School Reunions. Her life was cut much too short. May God protect her soul.
