Amelia J Anthos, age 91, of Andover, NJ died Friday, January 23, 2015 at Andover Nursing Home of Andover, NJ. Amelia was born August 13, 1923 in New York City, NY. She is the daughter of the late John and Marika (Efromidou) Pantelis. She was married to the late Joseph Anthos. Also preceded by 2 brothers: Theodore and Abraham Pantelis.
She was employed by as a(n) Child Care Provider for many years.
Amelia loved children, especially the babies she took care of. Amelia also had a great love of animals, she had a dog named Buffy and a cat named Mittens. Amelia loved to dance and enjoyed "cutting the rug". She was a wonderful and loving grandmother and was known as "Yia Yia" to her grandchildren.
She is survived by Son & Daughter in law, John and Marie Peppas, Daughter; Maria Harper, grandchildren; Damian Harper, Marika Peppas, Lauren Roorda; great grandchild; Theophil Harper; 4 nieces, JoAnn Tobias, Theodora Montalbano, Kay Afonso and Bessie Archibald, 1 nephew; John Pyrros and wife Sandra.
The funeral will be held 11:30 AM on Thursday, January 29 at St. Luke's R.C. Church, 265 West Mill Street, Long Valley, NJ 07853 with Father Michal Drury officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, 72-02 Astoria Blvd. East Elmhurst, New York on Thursday, January 29 at 2:30 pm.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 28 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J..
