Born March 12, 1941 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Minnie (Walters) Snyder and George (Wesley) Snyder and the wife of Frank Kowalick. She was a life-long resident of the Hackettstown area. A home-maker in her younger days, in 1975 she became the office manager and researcher in her husband's land surveying business until they both retired in 2005.
Helen was a member of the Independence Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for more than 40 years, and greatly enjoyed the monthly breakfasts at the firehouse (both old and new). She was a parishioner and volunteer at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Hackettstown. She was also a member of the Hackettstown Hall of Fame.
In 2010, Helen and her husband moved to Florida. Helen was a parishioner at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church and a volunteer in St. Theresa's soup kitchen, which she greatly enjoyed. She also volunteered at the Oklawaha Food Pantry. She was active in the Euchre Club, enjoyed Monday bingo and "Fun League Bocce". She was an outgoing person and had many friends.
Helen is survived by her husband, Frank, of Summerfield, FL, a daughter Debra Ann DeVenne of Candia, NH, three sons, Frank Jr. And his wife Elaine of Andover, NJ, Keith and his wife Anne Marie of Groveland, MA and Edward of Brick Township, NJ. She also leaves three brothers, Lester Snyder and his wife Joy of Hackettstown, NJ, Richard Snyder and his wife Elsie of Slego, PA and Robert Snyder and his wife Janice of Hackettstown, NJ, a sister-in-law and life long friend Gail Snyder of Vienna, NJ as well as five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption, 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840
Burial will follow the mass at Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ
