Miller
Harold A. Miller, formerly of Madison, New Jersey and Sun City Center, Florida, passed away on February 15, 2015, at 99 years old, just four months shy of his 100th birthday. Harold – Hal to his friends – enjoyed all manner of fresh water fishing and photography as a young man. He knew the best streams to catch the fish that he promptly released. He left behind a treasure trove of photographs, many featuring the construction of a fishing lodge on the Delaware River that Harold and his friends built in the 1930’s hauling each piece uphill on a pulley system. He was multi-talented: amateur radio operator, golfer, organist and a back yard inventor, making his own tools for special jobs around the house. Mr. Miller never stopped learning. Well into his 90’s he would still read technical manuals for the latest computer or cell phone he had purchased. He worked at the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark, NJ after high school and rose to be Vice President of the Printing and Supply Division, retiring, after more than 40 years of service, in 1976. Mr. Miller was a World War II veteran who faithfully served his country in the United States Army as Captain of an anti aircraft unit in the European Theater in Northern France, the Ardennes, Central Europe and the Rhineland. He was married to Helen (nee Zelinskas) who passed away in 1992. They were married 50 years. Together they raised two children, a son, Kenneth, residing in California, and a daughter, Patricia Lowcher (nee Miller), residing in New Jersey. Mr. Miller’s second wife, Leslie Fisher, and third wife, Kathleen Cerami, both pre-deceased him. He is survived by Kenneth and Patricia, and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the Spring with committal to follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, New Jersey.
