
Ms. Beth Cooke Knapp, 64, of Washington, N.J. passed away suddenly on May 16,2019, after a
brief illness at Hackettstown Medical Center, Hackettstown, N.J. Born at Newton Memorial
Hospital on September 22,1954, she was the youngest daughter of the late James A. and Anne
Cooke Knapp.
Beth graduated from Warren Hills H.S. In Washington, N.J. In 1972.
She attended American University and graduated from Washington Secretarial School and
worked for the American Red Cross Headquarters and at the Air and Space Museum for several
years in Washington, DC.
She travelled extensively and amassed a tremendous amount of knowledge that enriched her life,
family and friends. Beth was her family's private tour guide.
She was an avid reader, learned Scottish dancing, loved attending live theater productions,
museums around the world, but her greatest enrichment was the study of Egyptology's ancient
world. She travelled to Egypt many years ago and witnessed the magnificent pyramids,
museums, statuary, mummies, etc. In 1986 she relocated to San Francisco to accept a work
study program at Berkley University to study Egyptology and became a member of the
Egyptology Society and where she resided and worked for 30 years.
Beth was very loving, kind, generous, had a heart of gold and she lit up a room with her bright
smile and laughter and bubbly personality. There's no friend like a Sister, and no better Sister
than you! She was a member of Stewart Chapter #166, Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey.
She is survived by her sisters Carol B. Hart, Dianne L. Thorn (Harold), Sally L. Spencer (David)
and nieces and nephews Darrell (Michelle) & Christopher (Ann-Jennifer) Hart, James & Neil
(Michela)Thorn, Holly Zinn (Robert), Tracy Domzolski, (Donnie), Kimberly Stewart (Matthew);
great nieces and nephews Brandon & Ryan Hart, Owen & Sophie Hart, Juliet & Zoe Tuggle,
Paige & Samantha Domzolski, Lia & Sofia Thorn, Ryan, Kyle, Nicole Zinno
The family will receive their family and friends for memorial visitation on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm,
