Harry J. Compano, age 90, of Mansfield Township, NJ died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Warren Haven Nursing Home, Oxford, NJ.  Mr.  Compano was born November 30, 1925 in Rockaway, NJ. He is the son of the late Dominick and Mary (Virelle) Compano.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife; Helen F. (Cassimore) Compano and his 8 brothers and sisters. 

He served in the Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart for being wounded in action.  He retired from Heavy and General Construction Laborers' Union Local #472, Newark, NJ as an Asphalt Laborer after 50 years of service. Harry enjoyed vacationing in Maine every year, loved to garden, hunt and make wine.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter; Josephine Trimmer and husband Kenneth, Jr., 3 grandchildren; Amanda Stanley and husband Mark, Brian Trimmer and wife Theresa, Jay Trimmer, 5 great grandchildren; Timothy, Ashley, Christina, Matthew and Nathan Trimmer, many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 16 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Randolph following services.

Visitation hours will be Tuesday, December 15 from 6 - 8 PM at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to:  Alzheimer’s Association, 299 Cherry Hill Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054 in memory of Harry.
