Louise Marilyn Wright Greene
February 2, 1948 – October 10, 2022
Louise W. Greene of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on October 10, 2022 at the age of 74.
Louise was born in Roselle Park, New Jersey. She grew up in a close-knit home as the 3rd-born in a family of 5 siblings: Florence, William, Louise, Evelyn, and Joyce. Louise was a curious child, and from an early age she could often be found curled up in a chair with a storybook in-hand. She owed this quality to her father, William B. Wright, with whom she bonded over books of poetry, astronomy, and all that falls between. On mornings in her childhood, Louise would awake early to cook and bake with her mother, Julia (Greenhill) Wright, an art which she eventually passed down to her children and grandchildren via handwritten recipes.
In 1969, Louise started a family of her own with her husband, Hugh Greene, in Hackettstown, NJ. She was a mother to Amy, Wendy, Hugh and Kim. She considered motherhood her lifelong calling.
Louise had a reverence for nature that blossomed during childhood trips to Maine, and she instilled this value into her own family with memorable camping trips to Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and other scenic places. She was a passionate and resourceful gardener, who tended to her robust vegetable garden while her children were growing up. She shared her love of birds, which she inherited from her mother, with her children and grandchildren.
At her core, Louise had a giving spirit. She cared for people deeply and was generous without reservation.
Louise is predeceased by parents William B. Wright and Julia Wright, sister Florence Kuipers, and daughter Amy Greene. She is survived by husband Hugh Greene; daughters Wendy Krisinski and her husband, Richard, Kim Nalepka and her husband, John, and son, Hugh Greene and daughter-in-law Amy Battiato; grandchildren Alyssa, Tyler, and Grace Krisinski; siblings William, Evelyn, and Joyce and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Services for Louise will be private.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840, www.cochranfuneral.com
