Cummins, Jeanne October 19, 1926 - June 14, 2023

Date of Funeral

June 20, 2023

Jeanne Elizabeth Cummins (nee Martin) age 96, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on June 14, 2023 at Paragon Village Hackettstown, NJ.

Born October 19, 1926 to the late Ellis & Marie (Dewar) Martin in Caldwell, NJ. She was a very smart and adventurous young lady.

She met the love of her life, George W. Cummins, on the family farm in Vienna, NJ through her cousin Betty Hoagland. After which George served in the Navy, while Jeanne earned her R.N. at Flower Fifth Ave. Hospital, NYC in the Cadet Nursing program. During this time, she was always keeping in touch with letters to George. She knew one day she would marry him.

They married June 12, 1948 and traveled extensively around the country with another couple on their Honeymoon documenting it all via photos & the written word.

Against adversity they raised their five children Elizabeth Archibald, George A. (Nancy), John M. (Donna), Marie Kenia and Joan Cummins on the family farm in Vienna, NJ.

Jeanne adored being a Warren County Public Health Nurse with her quick-witted humor and exuberate love. She was a proud member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), loving her heritage & Genealogy, alongside George’s as well. Attended St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Hope, NJ and was inducted into the Warren County Senior Hall of Fame.

She is survived by all her children, 10 grandchildren: Rob, Jennifer, Scott, Sean, Christie, John A., Malissa, Jessica, Andrew, Nicholas.

13 Great grandchildren: Madeline, Eliya, Brennan, Gianna, Jackson, Carter, Cayden, Ashleigh, Lyla, Lance, Gabriella, Liam & Vivienne.

Deceased by her husband George W., granddaughters Janess & Michelle.

Jeanne was a good, humored soul with a wee bit of an Irish temper that swelled every so often and loved her martini’s!

Above all, she laughed frequently, loved deeply, always answering our “Love You” to her with “Love You More!”

The visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Cochran Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 20, 2023 at 10:00am with paster Deb DeVos officiating.  Burial will be follow after the service at Pequest Union Cemetery, 30 Cemetery road, Great Meadows NJ.

My sincere sympathy and prayers for the loss of your mom, grammy and great grammy. She was so loved by all and her humor enjoyed by everyone she met – a gift passed on to her kids. Humor is the best healer. Smile when you say her name and she will smile back at you from heaven. May God bless you all as you mourn and take comfort in each other and your fond memories. Much love and many prayers, Julie

I am truly sad to hear of mom’s passing. She has now transitioned from the physical to the spiritual, now residing with our Lord Jesus Christ. Both your parents were kind and congenial people always cognizant of the needs of others. Celebrate all the wonderful times you experienced with mom and this will lessen the pain of the physical loss. God will be your comforter. Jeanne was fortunate to have such a loving and caring family, especially during her residence at Paragon.
