Banville, Pauline October 30, 1931 - March 1, 2024

Date of Funeral

June 1, 2024
Pauline “Jo” Banville (m. Chapleau) passed peacefully in her residence at Paragon Village in Hackettstown NJ on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the age of 92.
Pauline was named after her mother but preferred to be called by the nickname Jo, given to her at a young age by a beloved uncle. She is predeceased by her twin sister Corrine Hind and her parents, Dean and Pauline Chapleau. As a child, her family lived in Maplewood, NJ and enjoyed summers with grandparents and cousins in Ticonderoga NY and Philadelphia PA. Jo attended Centenary College with her twin where she focused on home economics. With only one year completed, Jo fell in love with and married Franklin Wainright Harrison Jr. in the summer of 1951. They had four children together, two boys and two girls, and remained married for 22 years during which Jo proved herself to be a wonderful, loving and supportive mother. In the aftermath of an unfortunate divorce, she courageously juggled a late career as a loan officer while raising her two youngest children in Denville, NJ.
In 1983, she found love again with Francis X. Banville. They married and retired to Walhalla, SC. With Frank, she gained a second family of three adult children and three grandchildren. While living In SC she made many new friends and true to her caring and giving nature, volunteered in her Catholic church, local food pantry and nursing home. There she enjoyed 23 years before returning to NJ. Jo and Frank moved to Hackettstown in 2011 to be close to family. Sadly, Frank passed in 2013. Jo continued to live in the Hackettstown area surrounded by good friends and family.
She is survived by son Wain and wife Marcia Rosen-Kain, son Dean Harrison, daughter Janice Harrison and her husband Alex Ferguson, stepdaughter Nancy and husband David Ross, 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Lynn Harrison, daughter-in-law Molly Harrison, stepson Kenneth Banville and stepson Richard Banville.
Jo frequently expressed how thankful she was for her good fortune, her good family and the long life she lived. She was a sweet, true, and endearing person who bestowed respect and kindness on everyone she met. We can not begin to express how grateful we are to have had her as our mother and grandmother.
A Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at Cochran Funeral Home from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840.  Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.cochrafuneral.com/
