Alan Hoskin “Perk” 84 died July 12, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Alan was born November 2, 1939 in Succasunna, NJ to the late Arthur and Margaret (Hughson) Hoskin.
Perk proudly served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1963. Prior to retiring in 1996, he worked as a mechanic for JCP&L, quickly advancing his career to a garage supervisor. During his retirement he enjoyed working at Ort farms, farming with his brother-in-law Harvey Ort. Perk and his wife, Janie, enjoyed 23 years of being snowbirds on the West Coast of Florida. Perk loved fishing, it brought him so much joy sharing this passion with his children and grandchildren. He looked forward to yearly family vacations at the Jersey shore where he enjoyed fishing and clamming. Some of his favorite activities included trips to the casino, clam bakes with his family and he was always up for an ice cream. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
Perk is survived by his loving wife of 54 years: Barbara “Janie” (Ort) Hoskin, his two sons, Jacob Hoskin and wife Karen, Lucas Hoskin and wife Pamela, daughter Sandra Gartelmann and husband Jesse, two sisters, Joyce Accocella, Wanda Milton, five cherished grandchildren, Cora, Jesse, Sam, Emily and Leah, his beloved dog Ginger.
Visiting hours will be Sunday, July 21 from 11 am – 3 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
A memorial service will be held 2:30 pm on Sunday, July 21 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ with Rev. Ryon Herin officiating, followed by a brief military service. A private burial will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a future date.
