William “Bill” Edward Ryan, Sr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the age of 94. He was born on March 6 in 1930, to Catherine and Leo Ryan, in Cranford, New Jersey. Bill had an adventurous childhood with his five siblings. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. After serving in the army, he graduated from Rutgers University, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting. He had many ambitions and accomplishments throughout his working career.

Following his service, Bill met his late wife, Alice Ryan, on a blind date. They started their family in Roselle Park, New Jersey, later settling in Allamuchy, New Jersey. Bill will be remembered by his children as a great father, who was always there for them. He will be remembered by his grandchildren as a loving and humorous grandfather, who always encouraged them to follow their dreams.

Bill was known for his clever sense of humor, and his humorously descriptive stories. He enjoyed completing puzzles and tinkering. He was an avid golfer, and was most proud of his hole-in-one. He lived a life filled with love, happiness, and humor.

Bill, Sr. is survived by his younger brother: Don Ryan; his four children and their spouses: Cindy and Ken Hank, Bill (Jr.) and Karen Ryan, Jeff and Sandra Ryan, and Patti and Jim O’Connor; his seven grandchildren: Faith, Patrick, Kristen, Katie, Kenny, Ryan, and Jeffery.

In honor of Bill’s proud and strong Irish heritage, we share this Irish Blessing: The grief of our loss may be with us for a long time, but the joy of our memories will stay forever.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, December 21, 2024  at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, 48 Tranquility Road County Route 517, Andover, NJ with Father Tim Dowling officiating.  Burial will be at Good Shepherd Cemetery following the service.
