On January 8, 2025, Meredith Irons Harrigan passed peacefully at Colonial Manor in Hackettstown, New Jersey. She is survived by her grandchildren John T. Harrigan and Kristen Blackburn, and her great-grandchildren Kaelee, Brent, and Tobias.

Meredith, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and spouse, transitioned from a career in dance to a family shoe store business with her now deceased husband, John Francis Harrigan. They retired to Glenville, North Carolina, to enjoy the view of the Blue Ridge Mountains while sipping their morning coffee and evening cocktails. Meredith returned to New Jersey upon her husband’s death, where she volunteered her time with the Soroptimists.

Meredith grew up in Westwood, New Jersey. A devoted and disciplined ballerina, she had considered a career in the New Jersey Ballet. While never giving up her dance shoes, Meredith taught ballet and aerobics throughout her life, even during retirement. She also continued to perform and was featured with the Boot Scootin’ dance group on a Tennessee Dance TV station when she moved to North Carolina.

Meredith was always a sophisticated beauty who still, in retirement, could be seen dancing her way through life—especially if there was ice cream at the end of her dance number. We, her family, will miss her lovely smile and dynamic presence.
