Linda Ellen (Shaw) Millington of Belvidere, and previously of Morrow County, OH, and Lake County, FL, has passed at the age of 83 in Belvidere, NJ. She was the wife of John D. Millingtonfor 31 years, who preceded her in death in January, 2022.
Linda was the daughter of the late Jack and Ellen (Armstrong) Shaw. She was born on June 10, 1941 in Clintonville, OH and graduated from Pittsford High School (NY) in 1959. She attended secretarial school and worked most of her life providing administrative support in the insurance, nonprofit, and other industries. She retired from Ohio State University’s College of Dentistry in 2003 after 15 years of service.
Linda was most comfortable outside, in nature. She enjoyed gardening, camping, hiking, and always had a soft spot for her pets and any furry or feathered critters she encountered. Her adventurous heart and love of travel allowed her to see many of our country’s national parks and almost every state in the union. She appreciated the importance of family and enjoyed watching her beloved daughters, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and nephews growing up.
She was a voracious reader, family photographer and enjoyed genealogy, cards and puzzles well into her senior years. She was a kind and generous soul and will be warmly remembered as a caring mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Linda and her lighthearted quips will be missed by all who knew her.
Linda’s family is especially grateful for the warm and caring individuals at Mira Vie at Brookfield and Ennoble Care who ministered her in her last years and days of life.
Linda is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Traina) McCabe and husband Joseph Patrick McCabe of Hackettstown, and Diane Traina and husband William Schulze of Ithaca, NY.; her sister, Charlene (Shaw) Hainer, husband Bruce Hainer of Westerville, OH, and nephews Brian, Aaron and Scott Hainer; two grandsons, Brendan McCabe and wife Isabella Aristizabal of Egg Harbor, and Collin McCabe of Hackettstown, and step-grandson, Daniel Paolangeli of Ithaca, NY.
She is also survived by two step-daughters, Robin (Millington) Murphy of Florida, and Jeanette (Millington) Campbell of Ohio, four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her first husband, Paul Traina and his wife Alexandra Seigle of Morristown.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or ASPCA.
